History of William J O'Neill Sales Exchange Co., Inc
"Confidence is not gained in a day."
The company was established in 1973 by William and Patricia O'Neill. It continues
today doing business as a collateral loan broker and retail jeweler, family owned
and operated for over 37 years.
Our founder, the late William J. O'Neill was formerly associated with Arthur J.
Heaney, O'Neill and Kelly, and J. J. Ryan, respected pawnbrokers, all located in
Brooklyn, had over 60 years experience before retiring and leaving his business
operation to his daughter Veronica.
William, a strapping Irishman, partnered with his beautiful wife Patricia courageously
moved their lending business to Patchogue, L.I. in 1973. With great knowledge of
the pawn broking industry, they quickly established a successful business as Suffolk
County's leading collateral loan broker.
The companies' motto "Confidence is not gained in a day" is displayed in gold leaf
at our location. We pride ourselves on honesty and fairness to all our customers.
We understand the emotions attached to others heirlooms and the importance of ensuring
the safety of their valuables.
In addition to servicing Long Islanders for short term loans, O'Neill's contributes
to the community as members of the Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, NYS Collateral
Loan Brokers Association and National Pawnbrokers Association.
Today, our current President Veronica O'Neill carries on the reputable business
her parents began with the same integrity and customer appreciation the company
was founded on so many years ago. Ms. O'Neill is a trained Diamond Grader (G.I.A.).
We are eager to assist you so please feel free to contact us with any inquiries.
So how does a pawn shop work?
Money is lent on any item of value. Loans can be tiny or large, depending on collateral.
Service charges are regulated, and there are no hidden fees. No credit check is
needed. Items that are pawned are usually redeemed by the original owner, but if
they are not, shoppers have the opportunity to purchase at a fraction of retail
price.
